Gliclazide is a second-generation oral sulfonylurea hypoglycemic agent with a strong effect. Its effect is more than 10 times stronger than Tolbutamide. In recent years, studies have also found that Gliclazide still has extrapancreatic effects, which enhances the effect of surrounding tissues on insulin. Another view is that sulfonylureas can increase the number of insulin receptors in target tissues and improve the sensitivity of peripheral target tissues to insulin. Gliclazide has been proved by animal experiments and clinical use that it can reduce platelet aggregation and adhesion, prevent vitamin protein from being deposited on the microvascular wall, and has a preventive effect on diabetic microangiopathy. Animal experiments have shown that long-term use of Gliclazide can significantly reduce liver cholesterol, reduce triglycerides and fatty acids.
