Allopurinol

Allopurinol and its metabolite alloxanthine have the effect of inhibiting the xanthine oxidase, thereby blocking the synthesis of uric acid, reducing the concentration of uric acid in the blood, and reducing the deposition of uric acid salts in bones, joints and kidneys.
